Determines lat/long from well known entered addresses and places position marker. Also does reverse geocoding by picking a point in the drawing.
Keyboard Command: PrjGeoCod
- Draw: Toggles whether the tool draws a GeoPosition marker at the found location (with labels).
- Forward: Prompts for an address then attempts to find the proper location for the address. If found, a marker is placed at the location with the original address entered as the label. If the found point is outside of the current viewport, the view is zoomed center to the point.
- Reverse: Prompts for a point in the drawing then attempts to find the proper address for the location. If found, a marker is placed at the found address location with the label composed of fields determined by the template. A temporary (cyan) marker is placed at the pick point with a temporary line drawn to the found location. Use the GMCLEAR command to clear temporary geometry.
- Template: Enter the desired fields to format the label resulting from the Reverse option above. The default is [House] [Road]\P[City], [State] [Zip]. Another field available is [Bldg].
- Zoom: Toggles whether the tool zooms the address to the center on a successful find.
Procedure:
- Open or create a drawing with an assigned coordinate system.
- Initiate this tool from the menu, ribbon, or command above.
- Enter a keyword for the desired option (such as F for forward lookup).
- Follow specific prompts based on option entered.
- If a valid address or latitude & longitude can be obtained, a marker is placed and the command ends.
Notes:
- In newer versions of CAD, the resulting geometry is a GeoPositionMarker. Before using this tool consider setting the appropriate variables to proper sizes, especially GEOMARKPOSITIONSIZE.
