Map Export

Exports map files in various formats.

Keyboard Command: MapFilExp

Procedure:

1. Open the drawing containing the objects to export.
2. Initiate this tool.
3. Choose the top left Select button and choose the objects.
4. Choose the bottom right Select ... button to designate a file name and type.
5. Choose OK to begin processing.

Shape File Notes:

• Per the ESRI Shapefile Technical Description, "All filenames adhere to 8.3 naming convention."
• When exporting to shape files you specify the path and the base name. The selected folder cannot contain existing shape files (*.shp).
• The program allows you to select a mixture of object types but (to comply with shape file standards) must write each object type to separate files. The last characters of the filename indicate the shapefile type. See the table below.
