This tool can rapidly assign elevations to polyline contours. It works by striking a dragged line across these polylines. The routine then determines the intersections of the polylines in other that they occur. It assigns the beginning elevation to the first polyline, then increments the elevation by the interval and continues. As an added benefit it separates the polylines into major and minor layers.
Keyboard Command: PlcSetElv
Procedure:
- Issue the assign elevations command.
- To set layer names, press L for layers.
- To set the interval, press I for interval.
- To set the direction, press D for direction, the default is up.
- Pick one point below the lowest polyline contour to assign, then a second point above the highest that can be assigned.

Notes:
- The Text option allows the user to select annotation objects (text, mtext) that are used to set the elevation of the polyline crossing under it.
- The initial layers are CONTMIN and CONTMAJ.
