This tool can assist you in rapidly generating reusable blocks on disk from component geometry in a drawing. It eliminates many of the repetitive steps involved in specifying drive/paths, filenames, etc.
Keyboard Command: BlkAutWbl
Procedure:
- Initiate this command from the menu, ribbon, or command above.
- Use the directory select dialog to specify the desired destination drive/path where the wblocked drawings will be created.
- Answer Y to the Text as block name if you have text objects to be included with the geometry that is also appropriate for the file name.
- When prompted to Retain selected geometry, answer Y if you want the geometry to be left intact after the wblock operation is complete
- Specify whether the routine should overwrite files if they exist.
- Select the objects to wblock with any AutoCAD selection method.
- Specify the insertion base point for this selection of geometry.
Note: If you answer Y to use text as file name and one piece of text is included in the selection set, it will be used. If more than one is selected, a dialog will appear to choose from.
