This tool provides total control over the process of calculating distances in AutoCAD. You can use object distances, picked points, and values in both add and subtract modes to determine horizontal distance summaries. Each option is explained in detail below.
Keyboard Command: InqDisCal
- Add Mode:While in this mode all distance values are added to the running total.
- Subtract Mode:While in this mode all distance values are subtracted from the running total.
- Between:First you select a linear object, then you pick two points along that object. Object snaps are temporarily set to help you snap to features of the object, including nearest. When the points are picked, the distance along the object between the two points will be applied to the running total.
- Fragments:You are prompted to select a polyline segment. Pick on a straight or curved segment of a polyline and the distance of that fragment will be applied to the running total.
- Objects:When you select lines, arcs, or polylines, the total horizontal length of the selection set is determined. This value is reported and applied to the running total.
- Points:You are prompted to select a starting point, then repeatedly prompted for additional points until you press enter to end the point calculation. The distance between every two points is reported, as well as the sum of the distances. This value is applied to the running total.
- Radial:You are prompted to select a hub point, then repeatedly prompted for secondary points until you press enter to end the point calculation. The distance from the hub point to each secondary point is reported, as well as the sum of these distances. This value is applied to the running total.
- Value:This lets you set the new current value. You may wish to type in a starting distance, then add or subtract from that, instead of 0.
Note: All distances are reduced to and reported in horizontal units.
