Inquiry Closest Point to Object

Finds and highlights the closest point/insert to a linear object.

Keyboard Command: InqObjClo

First use a single pick to select the linear object to project to. The nodal objects can be POINT or INSERT objects and can be selected by window, etc. After the evaluation a temporary marker will be placed on the nodal object that comes closest to the linear object, along with a temporary vector to the point along the linear object. The derived point is stored as the AutoCAD LASTPOINT so that you can easily place a circle or insert at the derived point. Issue a redraw command to remove the temporary markers.

In the event that all the nodal objects selected are blocks with at least one attribute, you will be presented with the option to create a table of information from the evaluated data. This allows you to use one attribute from the block as an ID, to be charted along with its distance from the linear object. If there are more than one attribute definition in the block, you will be prompted to select the desired attribute to include in the table. For more information on tables, see the ToolPac Tables section.
