This is used to turn layers off by picking an object on that layer. After issuing the command, pick on one object (of any type) on a layer you want to turn off. The program will immediately highlight all objects on the chosen layer. Continue to pick one object per layer you wish to turn off.
Keyboard Command: LayTblOff
- Alerts: If you select an object on a layer that is already selected, the routine will alert you. If you attempt to turn off the current layer, the program will warn you, but not stop you from doing it since it is a valid AutoCAD operation. However, turning off the current layer is not recommended.
- Remove Mode: If you make a mistake and select an object on a layer you do not wish to turn off, simply press 'R' to enter the REMOVE mode. While in the remove mode, selecting an object removes it's layer from the group to be turned off. To return to the process of adding layers, simple press 'A' for the ADD mode.
You can exit the command by pressing ^C. To immediately reverse the effects of the command, use the standard AutoCAD Undo. After working with the drawing, if you wish to turn back on the set of layers turned off by this command, use layer on (LON) command.
