This tool is used to float objects over top of other objects. It is usually used to float text and linework back to the top when several fill operations have covered it. It can also be used to float objects over top of wide polylines and dense hatching.
Keyboard Command: ObjFltTop
If you select 2D SOLIDS in your selection set, the float routine recognizes this and provides an additional option. You will be prompted whether to float solids as part of the selection set. If you choose N or simply press enter for the default, the solids will not be affected at all. If you choose Y the routine breaks the objects into two groups, first floating the solids, then floating the remaining objects in a two stage float.
Procedure:
- Select Float Objects from the Object flyout.
- Select all objects to float.
- Enter Y to float solids in the selection set.
