This command allows you to log data to the GNSS receiver or memory card (depending on instrument type) with the purchase of the optional GPS drivers for use with post processing software such as Carlson SurveyGNSS or OPUS.

Note: The majority of the GPS Raw Only interface and functionality is virtually identical to that of GPS Base.
- Instrument Connect: (button). Common across the GPS interface is the Instrument Connect button that attempts to connect SurvPC to the instrument selected in the Current tab via the communication parameters established in the Comms tab. This action is similar to that of ✅ but leaves the GPS Raw Only interface open so that other parameters can be viewed or set.
The tabs shown are configured based on the selected instrument with the most common consisting of:
Note: It is recommended to go left to right through the tabs, from Current to Comms to Receiver to Settings, to ensure that all settings are correct, especially when configuring a new receiver for the first time.
Raw-Only Setup
Upon the tapping of ✅ from any tab within GPS Raw Only, additional steps will be displayed to establish the collection of the raw GNSS measurements.
- Log Raw Data File: Indicate the location where the data should be stored, the file name to be created and antenna height (common practice is to specify this value in meters):
- Tag New Site: Indicate a Site Name (essentially, a point identifier) as well as options for how and when to close the Site tag:
- Recording Site: The Recording Site 'XXXX' screen allows the user to see the current status of the logging file:
- Monitor/Skyplot: Permits monitoring options during the logging period.
Note: The Site Duration and Time Remaining will show on the top bar of the Monitor/Skyplot screen.
- Close File: Closes the file immediately. This will prompt the user with a confirmation screen to confirm closing the log file is the preferred operation.
- Exit - Continue Logging: Permits the user to disconnect from the receiver. This allows for data logging to be initiated on multiple receivers simultaneously.
Note: Logging cannot be stopped automatically when disconnected from the receiver.
- Monitor/Skyplot: Permits monitoring options during the logging period.
Note: Points obtained from Store Points or Average Points will be tagged in the raw data log file automatically if the receiver supports this feature.
Closing the Logging File
The logging file can be closed several ways:
- Start a New File: Starting a new file follows the same procedure as outlined in this section.
- GPS Utilities – GPS Raw Utilities: Will offer receiver specific options, including the Close File option.
- Exit SurvPC: Exiting the software via File – Exit will prompt the user to close the current log file.
