The Comms (Communications) tab allows you to specify communication parameters for the selected instrument. Most modern equipment utilizes BlueTooth® wireless communication technology but SurvPC also supports legacy wired communications for devices that provide that style of communication.
- Type: Indicate the preferred method for how the controlling PC should communicate with the selected instrument.
- BT Type: Indicate the preferred Bluetooth stack that should be used to communicate with the selected instrument.
- Settings: (wrenches). Tap this button to search for and optionally pair a Bluetooth device.

- Bluetooth Connect: (button). Tap this button to connect the controlling PC to the selected Bluetooth device.
- Find Device: Tap this button to initiate the Bluetooth discovery process. The operating system will scan for nearby devices and permit you to select the desired device (if found).

- Set Device PIN: Tap this button to establish a new/different PIN for the selected Bluetooth device.
Note: SurvPC will typically contain the default PIN values (if set) for most equipment manufacturers.

- Delete Device: Tap this button to remove the currently selected Bluetooth device from the list.
- Set Device Name: Tap this button to set a user-friendly name for the currently selected Bluetooth device.

Committing the change could resemble a configuration similar to that shown below:
- Device: Indicate the desired Bluetooth device that has been discovered. If none is available, tap the wrenches button to add it.
Note: In many measurement commands, there is a Bluetooth Reconnect option found under the Helmet icon for quick reconnection if Bluetooth linkage is lost.
Note: It is recommended to go left to right through the tabs, from Current to Comms to Receiver to RTK, to ensure that all settings are correct, especially when configuring a new receiver for the first time.
