Auto by Interval allows you to acquire and store data at a set interval value of either distance or time. This function is available with all GNSS and certain robotic total stations only.
- Distance: Points are collected automatically when either of the following distance thresholds are reached:
- X/Y: A point is stored when the horizontal distance from the current position to the previous position is reached, or,
- Z: A point is stored when the elevation change from the current position to the previous position is reached.
- Time: A point is stored when the specified time interval is reached.
- Starting Point ID: Indicate the desired point number for the first reading of the routine.
- Description: Indicate a default description for the point(s) that are about to be collected.
- Record Max Number of Points: When enabled, limit the number of collected points to the value specified.
Main Measurement
Data is acquired in the standard collection Map view screen.
Note: During actual data collection, the Point ID, Description, and Rod Height fields can all be changed while the command is active. For example, to change your point description from G (ground shot) to TD (top of ditch), simply type "TD" over the "G" in the Desc field without interrupting your collection.
Within Auto by Interval are these measurement/configuration tools:
Legacy Icon | Graphic Icon | Availabe For | Action |
---|---|---|---|
Read: Initiates a measurement reading. | |||
Store: Immediately Stores a point at the current location, overriding the interval. The functionality of this routine is governed (in part) by the General - Enter Key setting. | |||
Stop/Go: This pauses or restarts Auto by Interval measurements. | |||
Launches the Configure interface for the active piece of equipment. | |||
Directs the user to the Total Station Orientation interface. | |||
Launches the GNSS Monitor/Skyplot command. |
Note: Also within Auto by Interval are other common controls; most notably the various Map Screen View Controls.
Considerations
When working with Auto by Interval, be aware that:
- the ability to store points is governed by established Tolerances.
- the velocity of the prism or GNSS receiver (e.g. when mounted on an all-terrain vehicle) can have a dramatic effect on the position of the stored point.
