The Reference Drawings (aka XREF) command allows you to attach, detach and update external drawing files to that of the active Map screen.
- Options: (gears) Provides access to enable additional control over what type(s) of entities should be processed.

- Settings: Permits customization to how/when attached Reference Drawings are updated.

Save Map Settings - Update Method: Indicate your preference in regard to how/if the attached Reference Drawings should update.
- Refresh Rate (m): (not shown) If Timed Refresh is selected, indicate how often (in minutes) a refresh should be performed.
- Update Now: Forces an immediate update to the attached Reference Drawings.
- Detach: Removes the currently selected Reference Drawing from the list.
- Attach: Launches the standard File Selector that permits an additional drawing to attached as a reference.
