The NGS Survey Mark Query command will search the published NGS database for all recorded monuments or control points as stored on the NGS website, within a specified radius of specified location.
Note: Due to the on-line nature of NGS Survey Marks, this command requires an active connection to the Internet to operate properly.
- Projection: Indicates the current Projection associated with the job.
- Geoid: Indicates the current Geoid file associated with the job.
- Search From: Indicate the preferred method that will determine the Search From location:
- Center of Map: Fetches the current center location of the current Map Screen and determines a nominal Search Radius needed to cover the area.
- Existing Point: Indicate if an existing Point should be used.
- Read From GPS: Use the current position of a connected GPS Base or GPS Rover.
- Enter Lat/Lon: Specify a desired Latitude/Longitude position.
- Lat & Lon: Indicates the position that will be submitted for the search.
- Search Radius: Indicate the maximum permissible distance from Lat/Lon to search for NGS marks.
Note: Slow or marginal Internet connections or a large Search Radius (e.g. more than 10 miles) may result in a lengthy retrieval time. Patience will be advised.
- Warn before importing points without elevations: When enabled, an alert will be provided for any found NGS Marks that don't have an elevation attribute that are also being imported into the current job.
- Search NGS Datasheets: Initiates the search for NGS Marks.
NGS Search Results
If the routine finds any NGS Marks, they will be summarized in a dialog box similar to the following:
Toggle (via the On/Off column) the NGS Marks of interest.
- Data Sheet(s): The NGS Data Sheet(s) of selected NGS Marks can be viewed.
- All On/Off: Enables/Disables the Marks of the entire list, respectively.
- Import Point: Imports the selected Mark(s) as points into the current job.
Note: The point name (number) for the point will take the form of the NGS PID and will be represented with a NOAA/NGS point icon.
Note: Downloaded NGS Mark data is saved into a NGS_Control folder within the folder where the active job is stored.
