The Web Map Overlays command allows you to display aerial images from on-line web sources† as underlays to your project data.
Note: An Internet connection is required.
†Note: The relative accuracy of the imagery sources compared to true ground positions will vary and the images should be used for reference purposes only.
- Provider: Indicate the preferred imagery provider.
- Layer: Indicate the type of imagery information to display.
Note: Some providers can be further customized via the wrenches button.
More Information
- Service Type: [WMTS shown] Indicate the path to the desired web map service provider.
- Search: The service provider is searched and any valid results are returned which can be then selected.

Note: Larger dimension images may take longer to load over slower Internet connection speeds but there will be fewer of them compared to smaller dimension images.
- Image Format: Indicate the preferred format of the web map overlay format.
Note: PNGs are better for images that need to be crisp and high-quality. JPGs are better for photos that don't have crisp lines where you want to balance quality with faster load times.
