SurvPC features a graphical user interface (gui) with consistent controls (buttons) throughout the application:

The following is a summary of the more commonly encountered controls.

OK: This icon will accept the dialog and may also be represented in the SurvPC User Manual as ✅. | |
Exit: This icon will return you to the main menu and dismiss any changes (Alt-X) and may also be represented in the SurvPC User Manual as ❌. | |
Back: This icon will return you to the previous dialog. | |
Battery Status: This icon displays the relative battery status. | |
Current Equipment Status: This icon displays the current equipment profile. This "quick select" feature permits the most recently used equipment profile to be re-activated. | |
Map Screen: This icon switches to the graphical display of job data. | |
Bluetooth Connect: This icon attempts to establish a Bluetooth® connection between the controller (data collector) and the specified equipment. | |
Settings: This icon leads to settings associated with the current command or option. | |
Wrenches: This icon provides additional configuration options. | |
Point List: This icon provides access to a listing of the point(s) in the specified job and linked Control File, if applicable. | |
Point Map: This icon provides access to the point(s) from the graphical display of job data. | |
Point Station-Offset: This icon provides access to determine a point location based on a station/offset from a reference alignment. | |
Code List: This icon (when Coding Style is set to Classic) provides access to a listing of the Feature Codes in the specified job. | |
Code List - One Touch: This icon (when Coding Style is set to Classic/One Touch) provides access to a listing of the Feature Codes in the specified job. | |
Find: This icon provides for the ability to locate information of interest. | |
Save: This icon commits the data under consideration into the specified file. | |
Information: This icon provides additional information for the command. |

Prism Mode: This icon shows that the instrument is currently configured to read a prism and when pressed will switch the instrument to Reflectorless mode. | |
Reflectorless Mode: This icon shows that the instrument is currently in reflectorless mode and when pressed will switch the instrument to Prism mode. | |
Laser Pointer Off: This icon shows that the Laser Pointer beam is not visible. | |
Laser Pointer On: This icon shows that the Laser Pointer beam is visible. It is often used when doing reflectorless work and makes a red mark on the object being measured. | |
Target Height: This icon shows a list of pre-configured target heights as measured to the center of the target. |

Standby/Search: This status icon shows the instrument is in standby and when pressed, puts the instrument in search mode which then leads to Locked mode when the prism is found. | |
Locked: This icon shows that the instrument is locked on the prism, and when pressed, places the robotic total station in Standby mode, meaning it will suspend tracking mode (e.g. allows you to place the pole down, drive a stake, then resume work). | |
Tracking is On: This icon shows that the instrument is continuously tracking the prism and when pressed, turns Tracking off. | |
Tracking is Off: This icon shows that the instrument is NOT continuously measuring distances (not tracking) and when pressed will start tracking and enable the EDM on the total station. When in reflectorless mode, pressing this icon will begin continuous reflectorless measurements. |

Antenna Height: This icon shows a list of pre-configured antenna heights as measured based on the Antenna Height Measurement Type. |

Layer Control: Displays the Layer dialong box. | |
Zoom Extents: This zooms the entire drawing to fit the screen. | |
Zoom In: Zooms in 25%. | |
Zoom Out: Zooms out 25%. | |
Zoom Window: Zooms into a rectangular area that you pick on the map screen. | |
Zoom Previous: Zooms to the previous view. SurvPC remembers up to 50 views. | |
View Options: Displays the View Options dialog box, where you can control aspects of points such as the symbol, the style of the plot and the freezing or thawing of attributes such as descriptions and elevations. | |
Vertical Scale: Opens a dialog box where the Vertical Exaggeration can be changed when viewing profile-oriented data. | |
Pan | Panning: You can also pan the screen simply by touching it, then holding and dragging your finger or stylus along the screen surface. Pan is automatic and needs no prior command. |
Points | View/Edit Points by Touch: You can edit or delete any point by simply clicking on it graphically. |

Midpoint: (mid) The midpoint of the selected segment. | |
Center: (cen) The radius point of the selected arc/arc segment. | |
Intersection: (int) The location where two or more segments share a common X,Y coordinate (Z values do not have to be the same). | |
Nearest: (nea) The closest point along the segment to the picked location. | |
Perpendicular: (per) The location along the selected segment that forms a 90° bisector from the current picked location. | |
Tangent: (tan) The location along a selected arc/arc segment that forms a tangent (90° from the arc radius point) from the current picked location. | |
None: (non) An arbitrary picked location (not available in all situations). Refer to Map Screen - Preferences for additional information. |
